Answering the question that whether she would run in the presidential election or not, the Vice President for Women and Family Affairs said, "I will not run for office and called on competent and capable women to exercise their right to self-determination in the presidential election and volunteer."
Dr. Masoumeh Ebtekar referring to the presidential election, said, "We hope that women will use their right to vote will self-determine their future with power and will be able to be influential in this field as always."
This political activist stated about the definition of the word "Rijal" in politics, "The word "Rijal" has been chosen in the constitution because it goes beyond the issue of gender, and many scholars and commentators believe that "Rijal" does not mean "gender" and that women can run for president."
The Vice President for Women and Family Affairs expressed hope, "Worthy and capable women should also benefit from choosing and interfering in their destiny and using this right, which was obtained through the sacrifice and self-sacrifice of the martyrs, and if they do not do so, we will be left with shame and frustration later."
The 13th presidential election will be held simultaneously with the mid-term elections of the Islamic Consultative Assembly in 6 constituencies, the mid-term elections of the Assembly of Experts in three constituencies, and the elections of Islamic city and village councils in 1,372 cities and 40,620 villages and nomadic tribes on 18 June.
