The winners of the fourth Maryam Mirzakhani Award were announced.



At the ceremony, the first vice president emphasized that Maryam Mirzakhani was a great scientist who is considered as an indicator, and said, "Women shone in areas where they took responsibility."

Dr. Eshaq Jahangiri this morning (Saturday) at the closing ceremony of the 4th National Festival of Women and Science; Maryam Mirzakhani Award, said, "The university is a living and vital center and has a solution to solve problems that should be considered by the officials because the development of science and technology is one of the most important directions in the country. Iran will not achieve development unless it achieves scientific development. The scientific and technological development will not be achieved unless special attention is paid to universities."

He called honoring and modeling for scientific personalities in various fields a good and valuable tradition and referring to the honoring of Professor Maryam Mirzakhani and said, "Professor Maryam Mirzakhani was a great scientist at the scientific and international level, in terms of human behavior and ethics in her blessed short life, was considered an indicator and as a woman by understanding the issues of the world around her added global and scientific achievements. Therefore, it is necessary to hold a commemoration ceremony for them."

The First Vice President pointed out that in difficult political, economic, and social conditions of the country, holding these celebrations increases the hope for the future and people's confidence in themselves and society, "Prominent figures and role models make people conclude that peaks can be reached even in difficulties."

We will not have a problem in electing women to the positions of minister and governor.

At the end of the festival, Dr. Masoumeh Ebtekar enumerated the areas of cooperation between the Vice Presidency for Women and Family Affairs and the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology and said, "We are happy that we can appreciate the efforts of talented women and scientists in such festivals. The 11th and 12th administrations have provided a strategic path based on gender justice in various stages of sustainable development and management policies of the country."

She said that in the current situation, it is very important to pay special attention to these awards, especially in the field of biotechnology, and added, "We have seen good growth in increasing the number of female faculty members, and the presence of women in knowledge-based companies has also grown."

30% of the faculty members are women.

The Minister of Science, Research and Technology also stressed the need to appreciate women scientists in the country, and said, "This festival is part of the great work that is being done to develop the achievements of women theorists, and we must make every effort to develop it."

Gholami reminded in the end, "More than 50% of students and 30% of professors are women. The elites of many girls shine in universities."
